A horse and rider assessment includes observing you riding and using video software to capture your riding biomechanics. This will allow me to assess if there are aspects of your dynamic riding posture which could benefit from physiotherapy. I will then create an appropriate treatment plan to address this, which may include an exercise program for you to work on independently.
If it is apparent that your horse could also benefit from physiotherapy, then we can schedule this to ensure you improve as a pair.
The initial consultation will review your medical history to understand the issues you are having. From this a thorough, objective assessment will be undertaken and a combination of manual therapy, massage, exercise prescription and electrotherapies used to help reduce pain and improve function.
Such an approach can help alleviate symptoms associated with chronic pain conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, and back pain.
I can assist with post-surgical rehabilitation such as hip / knee /shoulder replacement or soft tissue operations including ACL repair or arthroscopy, working with you to develop a personalized rehabilitation plan to help you recover quickly and regain your mobility.
As part of the initial consultation a static confirmation assessment of your animal will be performed followed by dynamic gait assessment and a physical hands-on examination (palpation) to identify any muscular imbalances and skeletal asymmetries. I will create a bespoke treatment programme which may include:
